GPs can screen for underlying mental health concerns, such as body dysmorphic disorder, that might influence a patient’s decision. They can also help confirm that the patient’s expectations are realistic and healthy.

If appropriate, your GP will issue a referral to a qualified specialist surgeon, such as a FRACS-qualified Plastic Surgeon. This must come from an independent GP or specialist who does not provide cosmetic procedures themselves. - Specialist Surgeon Consultations & Cooling-Off Period
- You must have a minimum of two consultations with your surgeon.
- A legally mandated cooling-off period of at least seven days must occur between your second consultation and booking surgery.
